Grevillea ĎAmethystí

Applicant: Neil Marriott (on behalf of ANPSA Grevillea Study Group)

Date (when first selected or introduced): mid 1980s

Origin: Chance seedling in the garden of Bindelong Nursery, Wandin North, Victoria.

Description: Grevillea 'Amethyst' is a compact rounded small shrub to 1m × 1m.

Flowers: Late winter to late spring, mauve-pink

Foliage: Small linear simple leaves, upper surface mid-green.

Colour Coding RHS Colour Chart 1995 :

Flowers: Red-Purple Group 70b
Leaves (upper surface): Green Group 137a

Comparators: Grevillea confertifolia, Grevillea sericea

Reasons for distinctiveness: Grevillea confertifolia differs in having sessile inflorescences and flowers with pistils slightly shorter (10–12.5 mm). Grevillea sericea has longer pistils (> 19 mm long) and less prickly leaves.
