The Library and Gardens' Archives
The Library is located on the first floor of the Botany Building at the Gardens. The collection commenced in the 1960s and comprises 18,500 books, 400 journal titles and 5,000 maps.
The collection covers the taxonomy, botany and horticulture of Australian native plants. There are significant collections of international publications on cryptogams and orchids.
Other topics include landscape design, plant conservation, Aboriginal use of plants, botanical illustration, botanic gardens, herbaria, and flora of other countries.
The ANBG Library includes the collection of the Australian Biological Resources Study (ABRS) with publications on Australian fauna.
The Library provides services to staff and volunteers. Library resources are also available to members of the public by appointment only, between 9.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Friends of the ANBG are welcome to use the library and are eligible to borrow items once registered.
The Library is open to the public by appointment only as a reference library.
The ANBG Library participates in Libraries Australia Document Delivery service.
We can supply books and photocopies of material via inter-library loan to libraries within Australia. Please contact your institution's library to request materials.
Currently only a small number of items are listed on the Australian National Bibiographic Database (ANBD) available at Libraries Australia.
