Council of Heads of Australasian Herbaria |
Born at Koolewong, Gosford, N.S.W., on 30 December
1888 and died at Gosford on 6 July 1958.
He
was one of the three sons of Andrew Murphy and was connected with his
father’s eucalypt seed business as a young man when he collected seed
in Western Australia before World War I.
He collected
extensively with his father in New South Wales as well as in
Queensland, and after his father’s death in 1929 continued with the
family seed business.
NOTE: It is easy to confuse his collections in AVH with those of "Murphy, Patricia Joan" (1930-2006) with the same initials, but she collected in the period from 1989 to 2006.
